Como consumidor empedernido de series americanas, no voy a ser quien yo quien no de una oportunidad a esta recién estrenada "the mentalist". ¿Que qué es "the mentalist"? pues es el enésimo intento de conseguir la serie policiaca definitiva. Bueno, de hecho, ésta ya no busca ni eso, sino sólo seguir al rebufo del éxito de las anteriores, ya que el formato ya está más visto que el tebeo: Se basa en capítulos autoconclusivos con un hilo argumental (o un malo malote) de más largo recorrido y que adivino que nos acompañará durante toda la temporada. Un sistema más que explotado (y muy bien explotado) en la clásica "Expediente X" y en las recientes "Dexter" o "Life".

La novedad que ésta añade es un detective pseudoadivino, o ilusionista, o psiquiatra, o que lee la mente de las personas, o que ve venir lo que va a pasar, o simplemente es muy listo... Que se yo. En cualquier caso, algo muy poco creíble.

Amigos serieadictos, ante la avalancha de series que se nos está viniendo encima (y no tiene pinta de parar) mi consejo es que se escoja un poco lo que ver, y para mí de los últimos estrenos promete mucho más "Fringe" de los creadores de "Alias", que si bién podemos decir que tampoco es algo nuevo ni rompedor, sí tiene al menos el presupesto, los medios técnicos y la experiencia de J.J. Abrams para suponerle ese plus.

Repito que ésto es sólo una opinión después de haber visto el episodio piloto, desde luego nada apasionante. Pero bueno, el tiempo (y las audiencias) dictarán sentencia.

¡Qué alegría! Un piloto en estreno que me ha gustado mucho. Ya estaba a punto de perder las esperanzas esta temporada. El primer episodio de El Mentalista no cuenta una historia nueva (de hecho, calca a la mediocre serie Psych, pero en versión dramática). Sin embargo, está tan terriblemente bien narrada que merece la pena agendarla para las siguientes semanas. Muy bien los actores, sobre todo el protagonista (Simon Baker) y las dos chicas que pelearán por su amor (supongo). Bien la estructura dramática, el pasado del personaje, su serenidad. Excelente la presentación de los hechos, que siempre es tan difícil de narrar en un estreno. Además, los guionistas se dieron el lujo de contar dos historias: una corta antes de los créditos, y la principal después. Véanla, entretenimiento asegurado.
